"In an age of gaudy spectacle, I love Fashion Net's contemporary-minimalist look. It's lean Céline in a showy Cavalli world." -Horacio Silva
Personal destinations in digital fashion land:
"In all honesty, I wasn't a fan of this site when it first launched back in 2000 -- particularly of its design. But I really think that it's found its identity and voice. I'd be lying if I said I visit it all the time, but when I do I am captivated by what is on offer. And they package enterprise features better than anyone."
"OK, so it's not as good as it was under my watch -- seriously, it sounds egotistical but I really think they have somewhat lost the plot (too much mindless celebrity and beauty coverage, not to mention its schizophrenic branding) -- but, with its impressive global reach, solid writing and cool interactives like 'Model-morphosis,' it still remains one of the best in breed."
"Don't really know much about the New Yorkers behind this aggregator blog, and judging from their advertising page the business model is a tough one to make work, but here's hoping they do because they produce a great one-stop destination for the latest magazine, campaign and model news. I really wish they would run their click-through images larger though, and the design and tagline definitely need revisiting."
"A little bit of editor Olivier Zahm goes a long way. And while his site can sometimes feel like an onanistic diary of his sexcapades and misadventures, there is something incredibly compelling about his Zelig-like ability to pop up everywhere on the international cultural calendar/press junket circuit. The incredible access that Zahm gets from his shameless networking and the quality of his black and white photography, which I think is underrated, save the site from being a throwaway parody of itself."
"The little fashion engine that could continues to chug along and frockwatchers everywhere are better off for it. I have no idea how Lee Carter manages to produce so much original content, given that he flies mostly solo, but it's always a satisfying mix of high fashion and low urges, with just the right amount of New York attitude to keep it hunty-fresh. My one gripe? He'd hate me for saying this, but I really think it's time to ditch the old logo."
