Chinese-American Sui belongs to the look-to-the-flea-market-for-inspiration school of design. Her whimsical and rock 'n' roll flavored collections have included retro re-mixes from practically every fashion period between 1920 and 1982. After graduating from Parsons The New School for Design in the mid-seventies, Sui worked as a stylist for ex-school-mate Steven Meisel and at different sportswear companies. After reaching mainstream success with her own label in the beginning of the 90s, Sui established herself as a household name by launching a cosmetic and fragrance line.
